On May 1st the DEV Museum Railway will start the new season with a special event. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the museum railway, whose first train ran on 1 July 1966. To kick off this special season, both the historic "Spreewald" steam locomotive and the V2 diesel locomotive will be in service, hauling passenger trains with and without freight (PmG) along the line.
Another highlight is the LGB museum carriage, specially designed for the anniversary, which will be on the line that day. In addition, the IG Post will be visiting us at the start of the season to demonstrate postal transport on the narrow-gauge railway. The day’s programme will be complemented by exciting shunting demonstrations. The opening day will conclude with the der T44 railcar, a former vehicle of the Juist Island Railway.
The first train of the 2026 season departs at 10:45 am. On this day, you can travel here not only by car but also by public transport and the VGH Kaffkieker train.
Many more attractions await you throughout the 2026 anniversary year, such as the big anniversary week, which takes place from 24 July to 2 August.
